TASK 4 Reseach on The Howick Historical Village

HISTORY IS Alive TODAY
First I did some research on this topic about the Village and found out these information as follows:
Step back in time and experience life in the fencible settlement during the 1840 to 1880 period. Howick Historial Village has one of the most extensive collections of early colonial buildings in New Zealand, including raupo cottages, schools, Fencible cottages, church, forge and general store.Spend half a day strolling through the seven acre site at your leisure.

This is my video with Joan who was working in the village

This is the entry and exit in this homestead cafe ,shop and administrative facilities which was built in 1995.

REFLECTION ON TASK 4 ABOUT HOWICK HISTORICAL VILLAGe

Task 4 was very interesting. Actually task 4 was easier  than task 3 because I knew that there is so ,many places that I can visit around Auckland. Our class went to Arataki Vistor Centre where I found some brochure while I was going through brochure I found one which was quite interesting it was about something old .Sometime I decided that I will do my task on this topic.I called at the reception and  asked some information about the village such as , opening hours and admission fees.

On Sunday I decided to visit the village my husband took me. I was very excited because my family was with me.On my way I asked my husband to give me some ideas so,  he gave me some ideas such as, make some question.  The Journey took us approximately 45 minutes from Henderson. We arrived at the village and paid our admission fees and told the receptionist that Iam doing a task and I would like to interview somebody about the village. She told me there is a lady in the village  who's name is Joan will be able to answer my questions, but I was sceptical

While I was looking I met Joan and I introduce my self and asked her few question. She was wearing long dress and hat that ladies used to wear in olden days .She started telling me about the village, have 30 buildings of 1840 to 1880 period have been restored by volunteer members of the Howick and Districts Historical society. These include Hemi pepene's Whare, the mail runners raupo cottage, school, courthouse , church ,fenciable cottages and black Smiths shop. It was very interesting then I made video with her and         she gave me more information about the village which you can watch on my blog.

After that we walked around the village and took some photos and saw many things like, the tap how the people use to  get there water from and schools and so many things. That was my Auckland's Award Winning Heritage Experience I would say the History is Alive Today. If you are interested too, you could have a look at that information.I encourage you all to visit this village you will be amazed.

I would like to thank my husband for all his help and not forgetting my teacher.

 Reflective Blog on Task 3

Task 3, was interesting for me, but I had some problems finding
enough information.Firstly I thought I could go to the student central and talk to Tasmeen who is the student programme Advisor, but she was not there.I was bit upset then I thought I could go and see someone in the Unitec Library where I met Dipti and she was willing to answer all my questions, but she was not comfortable doing and video with me.

After all that effort (which took 2-3 days) I decided to choose somebody from the class because I was running short of time to do the task. That was more successful and I talked to Reem and she told me everything about her religion (Muslim). And my other classmate showed me a web-site where I can got some information such as, photos. One thing that Reem told me was completely different from my own religion was that during time pray Man and Women has to be in separate room.

I felt that this Task was very difficult because some people was not willing to share all the things with me. This Task was also very useful for me because I have learned so many things about Islam .I think rules are similar compared to my own religion.

I videoed the conversation with Reem and got some photos from the web-site and put them on my blog.If you are interested too, you could have a look at that information. Also you could give me some feed back on my research on Islam

THANKS MISS FOR ALL YOU HELP.

Task 2 research on future study options

FIRST I went to Unitec Library and had a very useful conversation with Nursing librarian. Her name is Dipti and she gave me some good ideas on where to start with my research. She told me look for books in library so, I  went to the Library and found a book the title was The Study Skills For Nursing .I got some ideas from the book. As follows:

  • Manage yourself like, Managing your stress and Managing your time.
  •  Improve you work for example, making notes, working in an inter-professional team.
  • Optimism your reading where as, reading critically, managing your reading.
  •  Cope with varied assessment strategies.
  • Link theory to practice

Then I went to student central and talk to Tasmeen she the programme Advisor and did the voice recording .

                             FEELING ABOUT TASK 2

Task 2,talks about my future study.Actually task 2 was easier than task. 1 because I had ideas for my future study and what I want to become.Firstly I thought could go to the Unitec library, because I needed some help. So I made an appointment with someone who a staff  member in Unitec library. Her name Dipti. She gave me some advice in the meeting. My was In nursing so, one piece of the advice was that I could go to library and looked for a book on nursing.Another one was to make some question for the recording.

After meeting the nursing libaraian, I went to student central where I met Tasmeen she is the student progarmme Advisor she showed me some useful information about nursing.I thought it was very useful for me because I could learn what are the step's that I  have to take when enrolling for the course.

I felt that this task was very challenging because I had never done it before.I had to go to places  and talk with people that I had never met before.I was bit nervous, so I needed to pluck up some courage, and try to ask them as many questions as I could. Fortunately, they were vary kind and explained things to me very well. This task was also very useful for me because I could improve my spoken English by talking to other people; also contributed to my confidence speaking in public.

I recorded the conversation with Tasmeen and took some photo's about nursing, and then I put them on my blog.If you are interested too, you could give me a comment, and dis cuss your future study.I am looking forward to sharing different thoughts on career with you.

I would like to thank my teacher for all her hard work
